Getting a Dachshund

If you had asked me years ago what kind of dog I wanted, I would have said a big dog. Instead, I ended up with a wirehaired Dachshund named Bruno, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Wirehaired Dachshunds are incredibly smart, funny, affectionate, and absolutely full of character. They may be small, but they have huge personalities and somehow manage to become the center of the household.

Bruno is 5 years old now, and there is never a dull moment with him. He loves to cuddle, always wants to be near his people, and is clever enough to keep us on our toes.

When I met my husband, I was hoping Bruno would accept him. Thankfully, he did right away. In fact, I think he loves my husband even more than he loves me now.The first time they met, Bruno looked at him as if he had been waiting for him his entire life. It was one of those moments that instantly made me smile.

If you’re looking for a dog with intelligence, loyalty, humor, and a surprising amount of personality packed into a small body, I can’t recommend a wirehaired Dachshund enough.
